The Nazreth Academy’s dancers are once again the best in the state after the top -10 finish at the end of the weekend at the Illinois High School Association Class 1A Championships in Bloomington.
The school’s competitive dance team claimed to be ranked 10th after their performance on Friday and Saturday at La Granz Park.
Strong performance marked the fourth consecutive season, in which Nazreth proceeded in the final of the state based on a strong sectional performance, this time in the main East sectional. In 2024, the 10th place Finnish also comes one year after the ninth position in the state.
Coach Kristeon Yarca said, “We had lost a good core group from last year (graduation), but I knew that in this group it was good to do good.” “Especially last month, this group actually came together and took ownership. He really bought a team in the idea and really tied. ,
York said that she was confident, going to the state competition, that her team would perform well.
“And it really hit me when we were getting hot, about 20 minutes ago before we left,” he said. “I could really understand that we were going to do well.”
Wilo Springs Junior Gabriella Imbarat said that the team’s synergy was an important factor in its success.
He said, “We spent a lot of time during Sectional Week and State Week and to make a relationship with each other to make sure that the audience can feel our connection when we hit on stage. And we were believing in ourselves and each other, “he said. “A lot of training and long practices went into the preparation of the state, but I think one of the most important things we had prepared had to be tied as a team.”
Maria Nelson, Senior of Western Springs, agreed with the Tech of Imbart.
“Despite the pressure that comes with going to the state, we constantly raise each other and share many laughter on the way,” he said. “I don’t think I have ever been with such a positive and supporting team.”
Nelson said that the team’s performance in the state competition was certainly the best season.
“We really prioritize dialogue during our routine,” he said. “Whether he was going to ‘Chalo Chalo’, or was saying loudly to our count, our tone made the dance more powerful, both for the audience and for themselves.”
Nelson said it was especially satisfactory, as a senior, to see the progress made by the team during its four years.
“Our team’s development has been amazing in four years,” he said. “Freshman and Sofomore Year, we had a simple routine and were made only in the initial stages. By the junior year, we had changed the morality of our work, with the goal of making it in the final.
“We found out that we have made it for two (final) junior years and senior years, there is a feeling that I will never forget. No matter which place we had come to, it could never imagine our new people. ,
Coach Yogra said that while the finish of the 10th place was less than a year, a year ago, the team scored 86.10 score more than 84.68, which he scored in 2024. Lenox with a score of 94.66.
