Washington – Pentagon President Donald Trump is preparing an order for the deployment of at least 1,000 additional active duty soldiers for the crack of expansion on immigration, US officials said on Friday.
He said that about 500 more soldiers – roughly in New York’s Fort Drum, a headquarters unit from the 10th mountain division – will be sent to the south -west border. And about 500 Marines will go to Gwantanamo Bay in Cuba, where some detained migrants will be held.
Officers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the announcements have not been made, said that the deployment is under discussion and the number of additional details could increase the number.
The Pentagon is pentagon to sign Trump’s executive orders soon after taking over on January 20. The first group of 1,600 active duty soldiers posted on the border last week.
The deployment showed Trump’s determination to expand the role of the army in its campaign to close the border and sent the detained migrants back to their home countries.
Soldiers going to the border are expected to help implement concertina wire barriers and provide the border patrol required transport, intelligence and other assistance. Soldiers visiting Guantanamo can help create facilities for the influx of migrants and perform other support duties.
Speaking on “Fox and Friends” on Friday morning, Defense Secretary Peat Hegseth said that he believes that the US “Thousands of people in the tent may be safe in places in Guantanamo Bay.”
But he also said that there is a possibility that rigorous criminals or members of violent gangs can also be kept there. As a result, he said that the Defense Department is preparing detention facility in Gwantanamo, “who are originally supermax gel” are used to keep them temporarily.
Officials are saying the whole week saying that additional contingent is likely to be deployed to help secure the southern border – potentially exit in the coming days. The finally deployed can exceed 10,000.
Prior to returning to the White House, Trump was already deployed on the border about 2,500 guards and reserve forces. Officials said that given the length of the range of about 2,000 miles with Mexico, it would take additional forces to help additional forces to help in planting large rolls of concertina wire barriers and the border would assist the patrol.
Around 1,100 army soldiers and 500 marines have ordered to be deployed at the border last week, all have come to Paso, Texas and San Diego, and many have already started work.
Separate, the US Army is providing military aircraft for the Department of Homeland Security Department Flights for migrants taken over 5,000 detained. At least some of them are expected to visit the US military base in Guantanamo Bay.
Trump said on Wednesday that his administration planned to send a “worst criminal aliens” to Guantanamo. He ordered the Pentagon to prepare to keep 30,000 migrants. He said that some migrants cannot be trusted to live in their home countries after being sent back.
Trump said, “Some of them are so bad that we do not even trust those countries, because we do not want to come back, so we are going to send them to Gwantanamo.”
This is not the first time migrants will be held in Guantanamo. US authorities have detained migrants, known as the Migrant Operations Center, including people from Haiti and Cuba.
