Salt Lake City- Utah Hockey Club has selected three finalists for permanent team’s name, which will start with 2025–26 NHL season.
The franchise will use the final round of voting to decide between Utah Mammath, Utah Hockey Club and Utah Vasak. Team officials included Yeti as a finalist after being unable to work on a co-existence agreement with Yeti Cooler to use the name in branding and merchandising.
Smith Entertainment Group Executive Mike Moughan said, “He has a unique trademark that allows them to stop the use of the word Yeti or Yeti.” “He made a determination for his brand for the sake of his brand that he did not want to enter a co -existence.”
The US Patent and Trademark Office refused a request by the club earlier this month, using the name to cite “probability of confusion” with other notable brands, such as Yeti Cooler. An email sent by the Associated Press to Yeti Cooler LLC on Wednesday was not returned immediately.
In the next four domestic games starting on Wednesday night against Pittsburgh, fans will vote at the Ipad stations nominated at the Delta Center to help decide the team’s name and logo. It will take a first look at the logo, jersey and design for branding with each choice.
In appearance only fans will be allowed to vote against Penguin Games, Columbus on Friday, St. Louis on Sunday and Philadelphia on Tuesday. The name and logo of the permanent team will be unveiled before Utah’s 2025-26 regular session opener.
Washech originally finished the last place for Yeti. Washech is a reference to the Vasak Mount, which moves north towards the east of the Salt Lake Valley.
“We wanted to respect the idea that people were for mythological snow-like creatures and a very centenary approach was brought for it,” said Mughan. “Because we have a washch mountain, because we have a Washech front, we have many different repetitions or methods that we can do. We wanted to respect the spirit of one of those top names of the final repetition (fan of voting), while it also includes a Utah-centered version. ,
