Gary schools get $ 500k donation from hard rock casino for building upgrade

Gary Superintendent Yavon Stokes said that on Thursday, the Hard Rock Casino located in District Gary will purchase significant upgradation and equipment to improve basic needs with a donation of $ 500,000.

Stokes told a crowd of supporters in Casino that Dan would affect teaching and learning in the nine-school district.

In particular, he stated that gifts would improve gymnasiums such as wall mats, floor results and stadium bleachers, a library/media center and security upgradation with staff training.

He hopes that donations will fund audio-visual devices including an indoor playground sensory wall with a sound system and microphone, smartboard, bookcases and ergonomic lighting.

Stokes said, “It surely looks great to see this generosity for the first time in support of our students.” “I am excited for students, and we are grateful for this vote of faith in our ability to provide the best educational experience for every child.”

Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana president Matt Shaft said that the most needed in the surrounding area for the purpose of donating hard rock.

He said, “Our leadership and employees in the hard rock think about the important role we all play in the development of the community,” he said.

Last year, Casino donated a $ 500,000 to Lake Ridge Schools to meet the renewal of middle school gym, new desk, chairs and library furniture at Longfello New Tech Elementary.

In addition, last year, Casino gave $ 3 million to the city of Gary, $ 3 million for the demolition of the bang structures.
