Thorndon Township Supervisor Candidates, Judge Rules Return NAT Fields on ballot as rules

A judge of Cook County will on Monday to turn the Thornton Township to independent supervisor candidate NAT Fields, which will reverse a decision made by the Township Electoral Board.

Township trustees Chris Gonzalez and Darlene Gray Atelte along with Clerk Loreta Wales boarded the fields and two other observer candidates from the April 1 voting last month.

Michael Smith and Keith Price, which is the Food Assistance Program Manager of Supervisor Tiffany Henyard’s township administration, brought five challenges against the fields, only one of which was stuck.

The board voted 2–1 to remove the areas on the grounds that it failed to tie his statement of candidature with its nomination petitions. At that time, the fields expressed disappointment that a filing error could prevent voters from choosing candidates.

“This is just another obstacle that I want to overcome,” the fields said, adding the objectors price and Smith “were trying their best to kick any contestant … about thinking about it instead Who wants the residents. ”

Fields appealed for the verdict, judging John Tali’s decision.

Tali wrote that the Illinois election code does not clearly require candidature statements and nomination petitions should be bound together, and therefore the field should not be disqualified from the search for the office. The Election Code states that the petition sheet is “fasted together as a book by placing sheets in a pile and holding sheets together on one edge,” Tuli wrote.

Fields filed all necessary documents as a candidate together, Tully said, he is a qualified candidate.

“In maintaining objection in this regard, the board created one without any legitimate legal support,” Tully said in its judgment. “Its decision was a clear error.”

Fields Thornton was one of the first candidates to file to run for the Township supervisor, and Democratic candidate and state Sen Napoleon Harris, Republican Nominee Richard Nooln and Reforms Thornton Township party candidate and Harvey Mayor Christopher Clarke will face.

Supervisor Tiffany Henyard also sought a place on the ballot, but lost a Democratic nomination to Harris during a Cocks held last month. Henyard challenged the Cock Cuckus result in the Cook County Circuit Court, but his objection was thrown out to file incorrectly.

Fields officially said before entering the office that he had worked for the township under former supervisor Frank Zucreli until his position was dissolved under the Henyard. He said that he wants to lead with transparency and involves more the community in the township decision making.

“I am expecting the community who is angry about how Tiffany is acting and is going to get up now and saying, ‘Okay, now, choose it,’ because I should get up and make a difference now Need, “Fields said.
