1966: The city was provided with the NBA franchise – Chicago Bulls.
Also in 1966: In a meeting with Chicago Superintendent of Police OW Wilson, Rev Martin Luther King Jr. explained his plan – 1) To educate people about the situations of the slums; 2) organizing slums in a union so that landlords are forced to follow demands or face the risk of rented strike; And 3) Including the tenants of dilapidated houses into an army of non -violent demonstrations – and says that they are willing to risk the jail sentence, but their goal will be to “persuade rather than creating bitterness”.
1982: The Chicago cub sold Ivan Deese in a “aging but courageous” Larry Bova and “an unnecessary minor” in Philadelphia Filies instead of Rhine Sandberg.
2021: The Chicago City Council voted in the West Woodlon neighborhood to give historical status to Emmet Till and Mami Till-Mobali House, honoring the 14-year-old child killed, which would promote the civil rights movement.
